Shauna “Starr” Leigh Brock (nee Peters), 62, of Okemah, Oklahoma, was born on July 16, 1961, and went to walk with her ancestors on July 25, 2023, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Born in Tucson, Arizona, Shauna was soon adopted by Richard “Pete” W. Peters, Jr. and Nancy J. Peters (nee Horne) and came to live in the Chandler, Arizona, area. She spent much of her youth with her cousins and friends and was known for her outgoing personality and wicked sense of humor. She especially adored her grandmother, Dorothy “D.B.” Horne, and loved nothing more than spending time with her.
After moving to Oklahoma, Shauna met the love of her life, Dennis “Doc” Martin Brock, Sr. and they were married on February 8, 1991. Together, they moved back to Arizona but eventually settled north of Okemah, Oklahoma, in 1995 where they have lived since.
Shauna had an adventurous and creative personality and spent her time doing the things she loved. Many days were spent gardening, embroidering and quilting, and pouring and painting ceramics. She also loved reading and for many years could be found hanging out at the Okemah Public Library tending the many plants she donated to the building. If you met her, you’d quickly discover her favorite pastime was telling stories and jokes. She could turn even the most absurd events into a laugh riot and was rarely seen without a smile on her face.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Ellen Peters and Benjamin and Dorothy Horne; also her parents, Richard and Nancy Peters.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis “Doc” Brock, Sr. and her children: Vanessa “Jade” Sisseck and husband, Stephen Sisseck, Chance Brock, and Sharon “Aiden” Brock, all of Okemah. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, whom she adored, and her best friend and “partner-in-crime”, Sharon Arnbrecht of Acworth, Georgia.
Services are not planned at this time but condolences or donations toward final arrangements can be sent to the family through Vanessa Sisseck at

“Lo, there do I see my Father.
Lo, there do I see my Mother,
and my Sisters, and my Brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning!
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla.
Where the brave may live forever!”
