Otis Lee Maxwell

Otis Lee Maxwell passed away on April 11, 2024, in his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, after a 4-year battle with lung cancer.  He was a kind soul.  Otis was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 6, 1954.

Otis graduated from Midwest City High School in 1973 and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 33 years.   He loved riding his motorcycle with his Uncle John and friends.  He also loved boating, fishing, playing pool, feeding his pet catfish, and caring for his cats.

Otis was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, stepdad, and a friend to many.   He was smart and had a good sense of humor.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon and Otis Harrell; half-sister, Debbie Campbell; uncle, John Bruhwiler; and stepson, Mikel Roland.

Otis will be missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Rilla Marie (Meek) Maxwell, of the home; daughter, Andrea Howerton; grandchildren—Edward, Grace, William, and Ginger Howerton and Elizabeth Rilla Roland; stepson, Joey Roland; half-brother, Craig Maxwell; father and stepmother, Wayne and Ohnna Maxwell; aunt, Sandra Bruhwiler; many other relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and his kind nurse, Lisa, for the wonderful care they gave Otis.

After cremation, Otis’ ashes will be spread on his and Rilla’s land.
