Norman Thomas Harwood

Tom (Norman Thomas Harwood) died peacefully on April 30, 2026, after a short battle with highly aggressive cancer. Tom was a life-long resident of Harbor Beach to which, after college, he returned to be a business teacher, drivers trainer instructor and sports clock operator at his former high school. Tom had a life-long passion for Corvettes.

He married Barbara Grandon Mead in 1970, and they were members of Verona Hills Golf Course and the Presbyterian Church. When retired, Tom joined his wife in realty sales, until her death in 2011. Later, Tom built a life with Lynda Gainor Nichols, whom he had known since birth through close family ties. They spent their winters in Oklahoma and summers in Harbor Beach.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine and Norman Harwood and stepson Del (Adolphus) Mead. Tom was survived by his brother Robert Harwood and wife Sally, his partner Lynda Gainor Nichols, his stepchildren: Debra (Charles) Carissimi, Don (Joyce) Mead, David (Kelly) Mead, Doug Mead. 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, along with Lynda’s children Robert Nichols, Amy (Greg) McQuarry and Beth (David) Clary and 5 grandchildren.
