Nancy Ellen "Omie" Whisenhunt

It is with sadness, the family of Nancy Ellen Whisenhunt announces her passing on Saturday, April 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with Primary CNS Lymphoma. She was surrounded by love with her children and grandchildren at her bedside as she began the next stage of her journey peacefully.

Nancy was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to Dorothy and Charles Peavey on the 3rd day of September 1954. The youngest of four children, Nancy is survived by her brother Thomas Peavey of California, as she follows her Mother, Father, and her two brothers, Daniel and Russell, to heaven.

Nancy was followed into heaven by her Husband of many years, Glen Whisenhunt. Together the two shared a large, blended family. Nancy, or as she was better known by her grandchildren “Omie”, is survived by her 6 children and 10 grandchildren. Survivors are her daughter, Alisa Kronshage and her husband, Chris, of Round Lake, Illinois, with their children: Cierra, Katelynn, Katarina, Jacob and Cory; and her daughter, Lisa Weston of Maud, Oklahoma, and her daughter Sarah. She is also survived by her son, Joshua Costa and his wife, Holly, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and their daughters, Emma, Lily, and Maddie; her son, Joseph Costa of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and his son, Ethan; her son, William Whisenhunt of Ada, Oklahoma; her son, Rick Whisenhunt and his husband, Wayne, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and many others she adopted as part of her extended family whom she loved dearly.

Nancy was a Christian woman with a love of Christ. She had an artistic soul with a hunger for knowledge and a spirit for creativity. She was an artist that often painted on canvas and porcelain China. At other times, she could be seen throwing mud on a wheel and creating works of art or found with charcoal between her fingers as she sketched out a landscape or a portrait. Nancy loved the soft nature of an early morning sunrise on her back porch looking out at her small pond as the ducks or beavers swam on top of the water while she sipped from a strong cup of coffee. She loved a good conversation as much as she loved a good laugh. She had an onery side as she was quick with a retort to one of the many members of her community that stopped by her café for some biscuits and gravy.

She was a loving wife, honoring her husband each day. A devoted mother, she was always there to offer a hug, words of encouragement, or sometimes just an ear to listen. Her grandchildren called her “Omie”. Being a grandmother was the greatest honor of her life. She smiled with her entire face, hugged with all her strength, and loved with every last beat of her heart. She was loved and will be deeply missed. The family is devastated though her love will continue to be felt, and comfort can be found with the knowledge they will meet her again someday.

“I closed my eyes and all I wished for was to see another spring, and when my eyes opened again, spring had arrived.”
