Michael "Mike" Shayne Hammons was born on December 29, 1959, to Gene and Mary (Brown) Hammons. He was raised and attended school in Shawnee, OK. The Lord called him home on June 20, 2026.
Mike married his beloved wife, Frankie, April 19, 1996. They had recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. He became a wonderful stepfather to 3 children. Then, a loving grandfather to 9.
Mike loved to tell stories about all his wild adventures with his cousins and uncles growing up. He loved riding his motorcycle. He loved the open road and wide-open spaces.
He loved to joke around and have a good time.
He was a tree surgeon for many years and ran his own business, Hammons Tree Service, for quite some time. It was an art to him, and he always did a phenomenal job.
He was also involved with his church, The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. He was a lover of the holy word. Mike was a strong family man and always took time to visit with people and stay in touch with all his family and friends. He was always on the go and always had something to do. He will be missed deeply, and his memory will forever be cherished.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Gene Hammons; his sisters Linda Newton and Mary Hale; a brother-in-law, Troy Matthews; sister-in-law, Rhonda Hammons; stepson, Bryan Washburn; and a few unborn grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of the home, who never left his side, Frankie (Woods) Hammons; 2 stepdaughters, Lynzie (Washburn) Ellis and Stephanie (Washburn) Jones, and son in law, Chavez Jones; nine grandkids: Idalis, Sati, Macy, Isabella, Waylon, Kobe, Marley, Mylee, and Ava; sister Martha Matthews; brother, Glen "Tooter" Hammons; brother in law, Tommy Hale; and many more.
