Mark Wesley Higgins, 53, of Harjo, Oklahoma, passed away on September 11, 2024, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, after a battle of only 23 days with blood clots, strokes, and metastatic cancer. Mark was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on January 15, 1971, to Essie Weins and Bennie Higgins.
In 1975, Mark’s sister, Gina, was born. He loved her dearly and always looked after her. After attending Shawnee High School, Mark started working for a pipeline company. A few years later he worked for Hamburger King in Shawnee. He wore different hats to be able to provide for his family and his final job was at O’Reilly’s as a delivery driver in Shawnee. His favorite job was looking out for his family and friends.
In 1994, Mark met the love of his life, Scarlett Simon, at the Shawnee Bowl and that was the start of it all. After eight years together, they had their first daughter, Nakota Kanyon Higgins, and Mark was so happy to have his baby girl. Eight years later in 2010, they had their second daughter, Nakiya Storm Higgins. His heart was so full of love that three years later they decided to have their final baby girl, Nakayla Rayne Higgins. Mark loved the four girls in his life more than anything else, and he always showed how dedicated he was to his family.
Mark was a talented musician. He played the drums in several bands: 23 Dreams, Costanzas, The Recycled, and Drag City Warehouse. He also played the guitar by ear while Scarlett sang their favorite songs. He had a variety of hobbies: painting, drawing, skateboarding, rock hunting, going to rock concerts, getting tattoos, pyrotechnics. He loved wearing hats, and he was never seen without his hat. Most of all, he loved hanging out with his mom, daughters and friends.
Mark was predeceased by his grandparents, Abraham and Mollie Weins and Preston and Bessie Higgins; granddaughter, Natalie Williams; nephew, Chris Bailey; cousin, Christy Weins.
