Lewis "Preston" Fry, 70, passed away on August 25, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Preston Fry was born on May 3, 1956, in Bonham, TX, to Frank Fry and Betsy Fry and was raised in Honey Grove, TX. Preston graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1974 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from East Texas State University now known as East Texas A&M University in 1979. Preston started his career as a Math Teacher in Carthage, Texas before moving to Shawnee, OK to begin a career in the oil/gas industry. He returned to teaching for a brief period before joining the Shawnee Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier before retiring in 2021. Although he lived most of his life in Oklahoma, he was a Texan at heart.
Lewis married Rebecca Fry on July 6,1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Candlelight Chapel of the Stars. The couple had 2 children, Jill Fry and Bruce Fry both of Shawnee.
Preston was known for being an avid tennis player and a Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed hiking and spent time trekking the Continental Divide and a leg of the Appalachian Trail. At the age of 60 Preston hiked Rim to Rim across the Grand Canyon in one day with his daughter Jill. Preston was skilled at fixing things and had a talent for understanding machinery. Preston also spent many hours volunteering at Shawnee Little Theatre as a set builder, lighting technician and occasionally stepped on stage in an acting role. His greatest passion at SLT was creating special effects.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rebecca Fry, daughter Jill Fry and son Bruce Fry all of Shawnee. Brother Collin Fry and his wife, Louise of Georgetown, TX. Brothers Paul Fry of St Petersburg, FL , and Jim Fry of Greenville, TX as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lewis is preceded in death by Frank Fry - father, Betsy Fry - mother, Deena Rains- mother-in-law, and Noel Miller - brother-in-law.
Preston's Celebration of Life service will be September 5th @ 2:00pm at the Shawnee Little Theatre on Airport Drive.
