Larry Michael Gilmore

Larry Michael Gilmore, 76, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on May 31, 2024.  He was born in Shawnee on June 24, 1947, to Albert Mathis Gilmore and Ruby Jewell (Massey) Gilmore.

A lifetime long-haul truck driver, Larry began his lengthy career driving for Red Wallace.  He later drove for JW Welborn for many years, before driving for his brother, Earl, who owned Gilmore Trucking.  He retired in 2022.

Larry met Lea Renfro in 2012 and cherished the life they shared together.  After retirement, Larry enjoyed tinkering with his pickup, fishing, and playing the slots.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Gilmore, and his brothers—Darrel Wayne, Albert Alton, Harold Gene, and Earl Lee Gilmore.

Those left to cherish his memory are Lea; his brother, Don; sister, Ruby Ann; daughters--Angel Wilson and husband, Stacy, and Anna Andrews and husband, Jerry; bonus daughter, Ronda Cathey and companion, Bobby Bush; son, Doug Mays and companion, Jennifer Idleman; grandchildren—Cole, Emerson, Alix, SJ, and Caspian; great granddaughter, Remy; numerous other family members, and a host of friends.

Military Honors will be observed on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 12:00 noon, at Woodland Veterans Park, 100 E. Highland St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801.  A Celebration of Life will follow at Pott County Liars Club, 523 S. Chapman Ave., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801.
