Services will be held for Kody Alan Adams Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at AE Funeral Services in Shawnee, Oklahoma with his uncle, Steve Roach, officiating.
Kody Alan Adams was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to Mark Alan and Sherri Lee Roach-Adams on December 12, 2002, he departed this life from Sterling, Oklahoma on March 22, 2026, at the age of 23 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
Kody was known by many nicknames including Bub, Kody Korn, Kody with a K, Uncle Dody, and ‘Nighthawk Adams’ to his pool family.
Kody was a gentle, kind soul, Kody proved just how kind he was on December 12, 2002. He was scheduled to be delivered via c-section Friday, December 13, 2002, but he knew his dad was dreading having to carry cast iron tubs up 3 flights of stairs at work. So, on December 12, 2002, he decided to arrive one day ahead of schedule to keep his dad from having to carry those heavy tubs.
He attended Sterling Public Schools through his graduation in May of 2021.
Kody was employed by the City of Lawton as the youngest Senior Operator on their payroll. Kody obtained his CDL to operate heavy equipment. He prided himself on being very good at his job. He did make certain to mention that you can’t always feel poly when digging though.
Kody lived life to the fullest and never let fear hold him back. He knew exactly what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to work hard or get dirty to get there. When he set his mind to something, there was nothing that could stand in his way, and he believed that.
He had the biggest heart and would have given a stranger the shirt off his back without a second thought. Even in school, that heart showed, he often found himself in detention or in-school suspension for standing up for the underdog, because he simply couldn’t stand by and watch someone be treated unfairly.
Kody loved his family deeply, and his nieces and nephews held a very special place in his heart. He hated seeing them in trouble and would take the blame for them whenever he could. And if he couldn’t, he was always the first to speak up and remind everyone that they were good kids who deserved a little grace.
Kody had many hobbies in his lifetime. He felt most at home outdoors, whether he was fishing or hunting. He spent much of his life surrounded by nature, and that love extended to all animals, even the creepy crawlies. He especially loved his reptiles and cared for them for many years. When Kody was 18 months old, he brought his mom a smashed black widow. In his daycare years he was always catching lizards, frogs, and bugs. Whatever he could get his hands on.
Kody loved to fish. One of his favorite pastimes was being on the creek all night running limb lines with mom, dad, Chelsea, Clay, and Hunter. He also loved taking his nephew Carson and sister Amber fishing.
Kody also loved to hunt. Whether it be deer or snakes, he loved to hunt. He spent many years at deer camp where he not only hunted deer by day, he also hunted the snakes that came out at night.
During his childhood and young teenage years, he loved airsoft guns. He and his friends Lucas, Eric, Diego, Brady, Gabriel, Coco, and Zack would have major battles. Kody had a leafy suit that was covered in leaves that he deemed his ghillie suite.
There was an empty lot behind the apartment buildings in Sterling. One day, someone was looking out the windows of the apartments and saw the kids playing and didn’t realize it was kids with toys and called it in. The result was SWAT being called on the kids and the Chief of Police driving his car so hard to get there that the car went up in flames shortly after.
In this past year, Kody picked up APA 8 & 9 ball pool and quickly found a new passion. He got so good so fast that he helped his team “The Bald and the Beautiful” get to Las Vegas World Championship in August of 2025. Kody associated with the beautiful, not the bald, although in the spirit of things, he did shave his head to play in Vegas and fit in with the team. Kody perfected the “Tada… Magic Shot”. He was never scared of attempting difficult shots. He would put some crazy English on his shots and triumphantly say “Tada Magic!”
Kody wore his heart on his sleeve—you could always tell exactly what he was thinking before he ever said a word. His expressions said it all, and that honesty was just part of who he was.
He is survived by his parents Mark and Sherri Adams, his grandparents John and Cora Roach, his sister Ashley and husband James Hungett their children Elliot Hungett, Everly Hungett, and Charlie Hungett; sister Amber Adams her son Carson Whittemore; sister Chelsea and husband Clay Glover and their children Hunter McDaniel and Ruby Glover; brother Ethan Spriggs; sister Denys and husband Cole Murray and their children Maverick Murray and Baylor Murray; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Casey Ryan and Jase Brian Spriggs. He was also preceded by in death by his uncle Robby McDougall, grandparents, Glenda McDougall and Newel Adams and his wife DiAnn Gage-Adams.
Kody will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
