Karen Sue Jones Meshew, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus Thursday, March 12, 2026. Karen was born to Jewel and Femmie (Wise) Jones on June 27, 1942, in Shawnee, Oklahoma where she spent most of her childhood with her grandparents and mother. Karen married Donald Eugene Meshew October 11, 1958. They raised 3 sons (Jeff Leon, Steve Donald, and Clifford Ray) on an acreage in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. When Don passed away in 2007, they had been married for almost 50 years.
Karen spent her life caring for her family, known as Mom, Grandma, Aunt, and Grammy. When her boys left home, Karen drove a bus for Shawnee Schools and then began working at Tinker Air Force Base until she retired. She spent her vacation days with her family and hosted many holidays at the farm. Her home was a welcoming space with the door always open for those who needed food or a hug. She retired from TAFB in 2007 and enjoyed taking care of children, working with the Shawnee Police Department Sentinel Volunteers, and spending time with family.
She continues to be a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Don Meshew; her parents, Jewel and Femmie Jones; her siblings, James Jones and Shirley Nitzband. Karen is survived by her sons and daughters in-law, Jeff and Cheryl Meshew of Choctaw, OK; Steve and Rhonda Meshew of Tulsa, OK; and Cliff and Dee Meshew of Shawnee, OK; her grandchildren Julia (Meshew) and Paul Wright of Choctaw, OK, Jared and Tracey Meshew of Jenks, OK; Jenna (Meshew) and Curt Potts of Choctaw, OK, Caitlyn Meshew of Tulsa, OK; nine great grandchildren: Molly and Zoey Wright; Charlotte, Declan, Ellie, and Gavin Meshew; Callan and Jace Potts; Adelaide Pendergrass; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM noon Friday, March 27, 2026, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery located at 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:30-4:30 PM at Speak8ery located at 8 E. Main St., Shawnee, OK.
