Jyme Cornelius

April 5, 1963 — May 16, 2022

Jyme Lynn (Lenox) Cornelius of Choctaw died peacefully surrounded by family on May 16, 2022 after succumbing to cancer.
Jyme was born in Okarche, OK on April 5, 1963 to Junior Lee and Nancy Carol (Boerger) Lenox. She grew up in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Nebraska. She returned to Oklahoma and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1981. She began dating the love of her life, Dennis Cornelius, in March of 1996 and they married in July of 2002.
Jyme worked various jobs from nail technician to waitress but found her true calling as a stay at home grandma in 2002 when her first grandson was born. Jyme was excellent at her new “job” and spent the next 19 years being her grandchildren’s babysitter, counselor, shoulder to cry on, concert buddy, football and soccer game watcher, and more. Not only was Mama Meme, as they all called her, the fun grandma who colored her hair pink, purple, and blue, always had the best snacks, and liked taking the kids to fun places, she was also the grandma who made them feel safe when life became chaotic and who traveled over 1000 miles multiple times to see them.
Jyme enjoyed looking at houses and watching design shows, coming up with creative meals, traveling, 70s television shows, going to concerts with her musician husband, feeding cardinals and hummingbirds, and photography of birds and Oklahoma sunsets. Her favorite hobby was strengthened by her overwhelming desire to serve those around her, and she focused the majority of her time making sure her loved ones always had what they needed when they needed it. She excelled at finding a bargain and used this ability to serve.
Jyme is survived by her husband, Dennis Cornelius, of the home, a daughter, Amy Howell and son in law, TJ Harris of Meeker, a son Eric McMunn and daughter in law Nicole Lobaugh of Guthrie, eight grandchildren, Sebastian, Josiah, Zakariah, Brylee, Aleigh, Landry, Hayden, and Emersyn, her mother, Nancy Woodrum of Oklahoma City, her sister Jenny Statton of Yukon, sister Jo Doss and brother in law, Mark, of Pink, brother in law, Ricky Cornelius and wife Rachel of Bixby, nephews David Davidson of Pink, Dustin Statton and wife Jaci, of Meeker, Caleb Statton and wife Tiffany of El Reno, niece Kaitlyn Varner and husband Cale of Henryetta, and multiple aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews.
