John Stephen Sartin

John Stephen Sartin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and dedicated firefighter, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on May 6, 1948, in Prague, Oklahoma to Alford Buford Sartin and Julia Elizabeth (Landrum) Sartin. John spent his childhood years in Oklahoma City then later spent his teens in Shawnee. He married his first wife LaDonna Rae (Hall) Sartin in 1966, they had two children Lori LaDon Sartin and Jason Shawn Sartin. He later married Connie (Fincher) Sartin in 1983. He started his career at Gearhart and then later at Bob Townsend Ford, but his service to others was seen most as he served his community for 22 years with the Shawnee Fire Department. 

John's warmth and generosity shone through in every aspect of his life. He had a particular fondness for antique and classic cars, but he was also often seen at flea markets in search of hidden treasures. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing...hours and hours of fishing. He truly enjoyed family trips, especially time spent vacationing at Eufaula Lake, where countless memories were made. A true Oklahoma Sooners fan, John proudly supported his team through thick and thin. 

In addition to his hobbies, John loved volunteering to help with school trips at the fire department, imparting valuable lessons to children about safety and bravery. His love for sharing experiences and laughter with those around him left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

John is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Connie Sartin, son Jason Sartin and his wife Jamie, daughter Lori Sartin, grandchildren Sydney, Jeffrey, Jason, Jayce, Charlie Jo and Lane, brother Ernie Sartin and his wife Sherry.

John was preceded in death by his parents Alford and Julia Sartin, an infant sister Carmelita, sister Judy Darlene and brother James.

A private service was held in John’s honor.
