Joe Anne Sloan, 93, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on January 15, 2026. She was born in Webb City, Missouri, on March 24, 1932, to James William Crocker and Faye Leona (Riggs) Crocker.
In 1951, Joe Anne married Keith Dutton and of this union two daughters were born, Pam Dutton Leone and Cathy Dutton Higginbotham. In 1973, Joe Anne remarried Robert Sloan of Tulsa.
Joe Anne was a resident of the Shawnee community for the last 12 years. She was an insurance agent for 30 years in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas. She was a member of the Tulsa Organ Club, Tulsa Coin Club and Rainbow Girls Club. Her treasured accomplishments included being Grand Worthy Advisor for Rainbows of Oklahoma and being an accomplished pianist and vocalist. Her home church was Wesley Methodist in Shawnee.
Joe Anne enjoyed traveling with the family and watching sports. She was an avid OU Sooner fan. Her favorite memories were of holidays and vacations with the family and watching OU football games. She also had a passion for dancing.
Joe Anne was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother; husband, Robert Sloan; son-in-law, Fred Higginbotham; grandsons, Rocky Whitely and Jared Denler, and great grandson, Rhen M. Robertson.
Loving survivors are Joe Anne’s daughters, Pam Leone (John) and Cathy Higginbotham; grandchildren: Jamie Leone (Tracy), Traci Smith (Herb Denler), James Reding (Shelli), Josh Leone (Allison), Joey Leone (Janna), Jessi Voss (Christian), Lacey Robertson (Kodee), Wass Higginbotham and Colton Higginbotham; 22 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at AE Funeral Services Chapel, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.
In lieu of flowers, Joe Anne loved her time at Regency Skilled Nursing Home and would wish for donations to be sent to the activity fund for the residents: Regency Skilled Nursing, 1610 N. Bryan Ave., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.
