Joe Arnold Gomez, Jr.

Joe A. Gomez Jr. passed away on August 25, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 62.

Joe Arnold Gomez Jr. was born in Midwest City at Tinker AFB on June 12, 1963, to Joe and Louann Gomez of Midwest City. In 1972, The Gomez Family moved to McLoud, Oklahoma—their final move after many moves, being a military family.

Joe enjoyed the outdoors, especially the Ozarks of Arkansas where his mother’s family are from. He fondly remembered the many summers he had spent swimming and floating in the Buffalo River, near his grandparents’ farm. Over the years, he traveled there as much as possible, sharing those experiences with his family. Joe also was a skilled tradesman, and he found great satisfaction in his work. As the Bible says, working with your hands is a blessing, and he relished that part of his life. He was highly respected by other craftsmen, and he was a hard-working man. He had great memory, as well as a wonderful vocabulary, which helped him become a fine storyteller. He would often recall experiences from the past that he could make you laugh or reflect on your own.

In the end, he found peace not through what he endured, although his troubles did mold his character, but he learned peace through the strength and meaning he discovered along the way.

Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joe and Louann, and his first wife, Patricia.

He is survived by many…

Wife Carlie, his stepson Lucas McHone, and stepdaughter Ruby Skorkowsky

His son John and his wife Amber, their children, Ethan and Nashoba.

His Son William and his wife Ashlynn, their daughter Josephine.

His sister Cindy Stamos, brothers Marty and Mark Gomez, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

All together: 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 stepchildren

As well as other relatives and many friends who dearly loved him.
