Jerry D. Bivens, 82, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on June 18, 2025, after a short battle with heart failure. He was born in Paris, Texas, on February 17, 1943, to Lela and J.D. Bivens.

After graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1963, Jerry entered the United States Navy. He worked on the hydraulic elevators on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger CVA-61 for four years. Later, he became a union electrician for most of his career, retiring in the mid 1990’s.

Jerry met Joyce in high school. They wed in 1965 and were blessed with two children, Jeff and Kelley. The love this man had for his family and friends was unconditional. He lived his life through the teachings of God, which he passed onto his family. We miss him dearly with his passing, but we know he is in Heaven rejoicing with the ones we have lost and miss terribly. When our time approaches, we will have comfort in knowing we’ll see him again.

“I love you more.”

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, J.D. and Lela; sister, Sharon; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Bivens; daughter, Kelley (Paul) McCreight; as well as, many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale, Texas, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
