James Thompson of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on March 28, 1945, to JD Thompson and Martha (Giddens) Thompson.
James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1963 to 1968. He and Kay (Sarratt) Thompson started their life together 50 years ago in 1973. He was a free spirited individual. He had multiple talents and worked in a variety of occupations throughout his life to include: produce manager at Best Yet Grocery Store in Seminole, owner and operator of an insurance agency, house painter, owner of an auto detail and sale shop, professional blackjack dealer at Black Hawk Casino, professional poker player and ordained minister. Following in the footsteps of his father, James was a 32

degree Mason and a proud member of the Moore, Oklahoma, Masonic Lodge #539. He loved golf and all types of nature, especially flower gardening and yard work.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Martha; one brother, Jackie Thompson; brother-in-law, Elbert Gates; one niece and one nephew.
James is survived by his wife, Kay; three daughters: Sandra Hernandez and husband, AJ, Marsha Camacho and Rhonda Ezell; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; father, JD and wife, Edith; sister, Janice Hensley and husband, Roger; brother, Arlie Thompson and wife, Kay; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and a host of friends.
