Herbert Kiesler

Dr. Herbert Kiesler, 95 years old, of Harrah, Oklahoma, passed away on June 1, 2026.

Herbert was born on May 17, 1931, to August and Martha Kiesler in Dortmund, Germany. He was their only child.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Minodora Grigorean Kiesler; his daughter, Heidi Kiesler; three grandsons, Tristan Alexander (Anna), Daniel Alexander, and Jason Copeland; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Herbert was a master woodworking craftsman in his youth, which prepared him for a degree in interior design in Germany. He then felt the call to the ministry, studying at the Marienhoehe seminary in Germany. After serving as a minister for about two years, he decided to continue his studies in Berrien Springs, Michigan at Andrews University. He furthered his graduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, earning a Ph.D. in New Testament studies.

Writing and teaching held great importance in his life. He published two books, Romans: God’s Solution to Man’s Dilemma and, earlier this year, his autobiography, Under the Shadow of the Almighty. Serving in international missions was one of the most impactful experiences of his life, and he often spoke of his travels and the people he met on those journeys.

During this time, his love of the arts, especially painting, did not diminish. He took any possible opportunity to further his training in fine arts. Private tutoring was followed by academic studies at the Corcoran School of the Arts in Washington, D.C., and the University of Maryland. In the past, he held multiple solo exhibitions with great success. His paintings are in corporate and private collections.

Herbert leaves a legacy of service and love and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
