Esther Marie Howard

Esther Marie Howard, age 86, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026. Born on September 30, 1940, in Laverne, Oklahoma, Esther was the daughter of Emery and Reba Howard (Dull). She grew up in Laverne and graduated from Laverne High School. In her early years, she was a florist and then attended college at Oklahoma Community College (OCCC) and received her associate degree and became an Occupational Therapist. She is survived by her three children, who made up the entirety of her world; daughter Tanya and her husband, Paul Smith of Spencer, Oklahoma: daughter, Sheila Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: son, Michael McIver of Shawnee, Oklahoma: grandchildren Shannon Theiss and her husband Benny, Teresa Smith and her husband Paul, Kristen Denise and her spouse Tara, and Shelly Kjar and her husband Jacob, and Briar Bomar and his wife Heather, Raven McIver, Chase McIver and his wife Maliyah: She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren. Besides her children, Esther is survived by her sister, Tammy Baird and her husband, Rusty and brother, Jim Howard and his wife, JoAnn. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Reba Howard (Dull), and brothers, Bill Howard and Don Howard.

In accordance with Esther’s wishes, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held. Her family invites you to remember her in your own private thoughts and prayers.
