Elza Clayton Lewis

The life and adventures of Clayton Lewis. How does one summarize and condense 77 years of life stories into such a brief writing as this? Clayton would advise to write of the things of most importance to him.

Clayton was escorted by heavenly hosts into his new home on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He had been gifted with 77 years upon this earth and truly enjoyed residing in Shawnee among his family, close friends, and his church family.

It was important to Clayton for people to know that he was born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, on August 15, 1947, to wonderful parents, Phil and Georgia Lewis. He was proud to be “the little brother” for his sweet sister, Phyllis.

Clayton attended, enjoyed and graduated from Earlsboro High School, followed by studies at Oklahoma Baptist University. He was proud to have served as a guardsman with the United States Army National Guard.

Clayton always had great interest and delight in anything consisting of wheels and a motor. If you were to give him one or the other, he could build and create an entire customized show winning car for you. Many have witnessed just that. He was a master in his skill of restoration and fabrication.

He was talented and spiritually gifted in heart, mind and ability to produce sound and feeling from his guitars that could penetrate right through you and stir the very heart strings within your own heart. His hands and his heart would become one through those strings and you could feel life within the music itself.

Clayton was faithful--faithful in all things. He was faithful in love to his wife, Marla; daughters, Rachelle (Brian) and Natalie; granddaughters: Kennedy (Logan), Bailey (Josh), and Keyera; great grandson, Stetson; sister, Phyllis (Jerry); mother-in-law, Vivian; sisters-in-law, Dianna and Teia; nieces, nephews and cousins; close friends; his church family and Grace Church.

First and foremost, and above all, Clayton was faithful to God and his commitment to Christ.

Clayton would ask that each of us continue in faith and love. He would ask that we celebrate with him and for him in the unspeakable joy he has now acquired. He would remind us that Jesus is alive and well; that he too is alive and well and that he has seen the very face of Jesus. With that wink and that smile, with much love, he would say to us all:    HE called my name…   ALL is well…shine on…

On August 23 at 2:00 p.m., family, close friends, and church family will gather at Grace Church, 2218 Ellis Dr., Shawnee, Oklahoma, to celebrate Clayton’s “Newness of Life” just as he had asked us to do.

We will seek to remain faithful, follow through, and “shine on” …all because of MUCH LOVE…God’s love, Clayton’s love, and our love for one another
