Edgar Lesley Kendrick, 85, of Carney, Oklahoma, passed away on November 7, 2023. He was born in Tampa, Florida, on January 22, 1938, to John Thomas Kendrick and Julia (Phillips) Kendrick.
Edgar was raised in Lake Wales, Florida, and most people knew him as Les or Eddy. He was always an adventurous young man, often telling stories of how he would miss school to go off to the lake or ocean. He was quite a daredevil and loved to jump from palm trees into the lake or ocean. If he could be on or near the water, that’s where he always wanted to be. He joined the Army and started his love for travel. After being honorably discharged, he raced cars at the local racetrack. He loved to work on cars and was a diesel mechanic for many years. His work took him to Colorado where he met his love, Judy. They married and eventually settled in Oklahoma. He was a simple man who loved his family very much. He would tell you what he thought and would always make sure you knew where you stood with him. He drove a tractor trailer for many years, and he loved being able to travel. If he was not working, then usually you could find him enjoying the country life. He loved to fish and see all the wildlife that would come up into his yard. He had the best humor and quick wit, and he could turn any situation into a funny joke. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much.
Edgar was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his children, Kimberly, Rick, Tess and Les; and his granddaughter, Brittney.
Edgar is survived by his son, Adam Kendrick; daughter, Kelly Alexander; grandchildren: Meagan Adams, Austin, Dylan and Mason Alexander, Julia, Hazel, Ashelyne and Sam Kendrick; great grandchildren: Silas, Piper, Eastyn and Braylon; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Edgar will be dearly missed, but the reunion in heaven was surely beautiful!
The family would love to say a special thanks to Nurse Wilma of Traditions Hospice. She will always hold a special place in our hearts because she took such amazing care of our loved one and showed him such love and kindness.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, 2:00 pm, at the First Baptist Church of Carney, 207 Carney St., Carney, Oklahoma 74832.
