Obituary

Dustin Charles Hobbs, 45, unexpectedly passed away on December 16, 2025. He was born on May 2, 1980, in Oklahoma City and was raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he also graduated high school in 1998. He earned an associate’s degree at Strayer University in business and had recently applied to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in science.

Dustin was an adventurous soul who found peace in life’s simplest and most meaningful moments. He loved fishing, being by the water, and had a deep affection for animals of all kinds, especially his dogs, who were his constant companions and a great source of comfort and joy. He was a loyal fan of the University of Oklahoma, where he also briefly attended college after high school.

Those who knew Dustin will remember his love for the outdoors and the way he connected so naturally with animals. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Dustin is survived by his father, Gary Hobbs; his loving stepmother, Cathy Hobbs; his sister, Katie Hobbs-Roby; and his nephew, Isaac Roby. He is also survived by his mother, Belinda Hobbs, and her current boyfriend, Tim Cowan.

Dustin had two cousins who were also his best friends, Chris McDuffee and Cody Hobbs, their friendship meant the world to him, as was Tanya Warrington who has been a very special friend to Dustin and his family. He grew up in a loving home with Gary, Cathy, and Katie, where he felt safe, supported, and deeply loved. In the time leading up to his passing, Dustin had begun attending church and was preparing to be baptized—an important and meaningful step in his faith journey. He and his father shared many heartfelt conversations about God and spent precious time together, moments that will forever be cherished.

A memorial service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee on Saturday, January 3, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends of Gary and Cathy are invited to attend. Services planned by Dustin’s mother with her family and friends will be announced by her once those are arranged. Those choosing to send flowers or other arrangements can have them sent to the church Saturday morning prior to the service.

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
