Denise Susan “Sue” Johnson, age 70, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026.

Sue was born on March 19, 1956, in Moline, Illinois, to Ted and Ethel “Sally” Neels. She was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family. She found joy in the simple things in life and had a gift for making those around her feel loved.

An avid reader, Sue could often be found with a romance novel in her hands. She loved deeply and gave generously. Her kindness, compassion, and unconditional love touched countless lives, and the warmth she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Sue married the love of her life, Allen Johnson. Together they built a life filled with laughter, companionship, and unwavering love. She cherished every moment they shared together until his passing.

Sue’s greatest accomplishment and proudest joy was raising her four children—Levi, Shannon, Kathern, and Jesse. As her family grew, she embraced her favorite role of all: being “Grandma”. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them. Whether sharing stories, making memories, celebrating milestones, or simply being together, her family was the center of her world.

Sue was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ted and Ethel “Sally” Neels; and her beloved husband, Allen Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Levi McGinnis, Shannon McGinnis Martin, Kathern Haney, and Jesse Haney; her brother, Jeffrey Neels; her lifelong friend, Kurt Martin; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Jessie, Erin, Colton, Daeden, Kyle, Jacob, Jaxson; and her nine great-grandchildren, Asher, Phoenix, Rezin, Kace, Charli Jo, Salah, Hadley, Avery, and Coe.

Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us, and the memories she created will remain with us forever.
