Darrel Steven Lowrance

Born 12 December 1950 to Herbert D. Lowrance and Opal Lavern Lowrance in El Dorado, Kansas, at Susan B. Allen Hospital and left behind a life well lived on 02 June 2026 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

A graduate of the Class of 1968 El Dorado High, a graduate of Butler County Community Junior College and a proud graduate of Emporia State University in 1972 in Business Administration. He worked long hours for the Kansas Highway Commission and eventually was hired by Williams in Kansas City. Darrel ended his working career as a postal carrier stationed in Wichita, KS. He retired from his government service job in 2014.

Since you never stop working one of his interests became the stock market. He pursued the buy and sell of the market. He continued to have a passion for cars. His interest in hunting and fishing slowed down as he relocated to Shawnee, Oklahoma. He still followed Butler County Community Junior College football, basketball and Women Softball and he also adopted the Seminole State softball program.

After relocating to Shawnee, Oklahoma, he drove a side-by-side, helped pull a calf, helped with building a barbed wire fence and drove the tractor. He watched Brenlee play basketball and softball, attended Izzy’s dance recitals, went to family birthday parties and celebrations and swam in the summer with family. There was always something to do if you wanted a change of pace.

He met people at ball games, his neighbors, a counter clerk and talked with family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Herbert and Lavern Lowrance) and a brother Herbert D. Lowrance, II (JR).

He is survived by a brother Gary (Betty Lynn), niece (Erin and Eric Nicklas, daughters Izzy and Elliotte), niece (Kelsey and Travis Rider daughter Brenlee), nephew (Will Lowrance and Heather children, Landon, Jaxson, Sailor, Garrett, and Langston), sister-in-law (Pat Lowrance), nephew (John Lowrance), nephew (Michael Lowrance and Karissa, sons Morrison, Kalvin, and Ivan), nephew (Herbert D. Lowrance, III (Herbie) and Liz), and niece (Tammy and John McWalters).

Survived by children from Tennessee: Brandon, Jason and Kristen Mackinzie and 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by an extended family of camping friends, other Lowrance relations and other friends and acquaintances.

He recited the Lord's Prayer as a child, and this may best summarize his spirit.

Darrel will be laid to rest at a later date at the Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado, KS.
