In Memory of Brett Alan Robins
Brett Alan Robins passed away in his home in Noble, OK, on August 12, 2022, at the age of 52 years old. For those unaware, Brett was diagnosed in May with terminal cancer. He spent his last few months surrounded by family and friends with copious amounts of love and support.
Brett was born in Bakersville, CA, on June 14, 1970, to Bill Robins and Wynne Hunt. He attended Murray State College and Oklahoma State University where he received degrees focusing on wildlife and IT. Following graduation, he worked at Oklahoma State University for several years and then transferred to Softlayer in 2009.
Brett loved motorcycles, Star Wars, hunting and fishing, having a beer with buddies, grilling and so much more. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. While working at Oklahoma State, he met Tonya and they had their first child, Hallie, in August of 2003. Brett and Tonya married on May 27, 2004, and later welcomed Grady in August of 2005. Tonya’s oldest, Nicona, was loved by Brett as his own. He got to experience the joys of being a granddaddy when his “L” was born in 2019. He was excited for his grandson, Brock, to be born in November 2022. Brett enjoyed spending time with family and friends at family gatherings, on vacations or just out on the patio. Everything he did, he did for them. He had a heart of gold and will forever be in the hearts of many.
He loved the people he worked with and maintained great relationships with several coworkers from Oklahoma State. While working for Softlayer, which was acquired by IBM, he lived in McKinney, Hutto and Aubrey, TX. In March of 2022, Tonya and Brett bought their dream home on 20 acres in Noble, OK.
Unfortunately, the cancer diagnosis came rather unexpected and took Brett too soon. He will be missed by many.
Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Betty Swirin.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya; daughters, Hallie Robins and Nicona Lane; son, Grady Robins; granddaughter, Loralie Horton; unborn grandson, Brock Horton; father and stepmother, Bill and Tracy Robins; mother and stepfather, Wynne and Greg Hunt; sister, Nikki Robins Blewitt and husband, Mike and her children; several other family members and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
There will be a memorial service at the home of Ty and Tammy Swirin in Stratford, OK, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, to celebrate his life and to spread his ashes.
