Brenda Jean Walker

Brenda Jean Walker (Acord), of Okemah, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at the age of 71 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 3, 1955, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Robert and Wilma Acord (Green).

On August 28, 1980, Brenda married the love of her life, Stephen Walker. They went on to have two children, Stephanie and Curtis.

Brenda spent most of her years as a homemaker. When she wasn't taking care of their two children, she enjoyed tending to her many flower gardens, taking care of her chickens, feeding the birds and reading.

Brenda was a faithful and devoted Christian and member of Skyview Baptist Church. She spent many years lovingly teaching children's Sunday School classes, children's church and VBS. Even when her health did not allow her to continue teaching, she expressed how much she missed it.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wilma Acord.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Stephen Walker of the home; their two children, Stephanie Whitfield and husband Bill of McAlester, OK, and Curtis Walker of Okemah, OK; Grandmother to Trinity Harris; sister Peggy West and husband Jerry, brother Randy Acord; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family finds comfort in knowing that they will see her again.
